The Tribulation Period

And again the word of the LORD came to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying, “Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying: ‘I will shake heaven and earth. I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them; the horses and their riders shall come down, everyone by the sword of his brother.’ ”
Haggai 2:20-22

Again, the Word of the Lord came to Haggai. The message he gave to Zerubbabel was about the future judgment in the Tribulation Period. Do you remember what will happen at this time in earth’s history? God will shake the heavens and the earth: “Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth will move out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts and in the day of His fierce anger” (Isaiah 13:13). God is so powerful! There will be massive earthquakes, and immediately so many people will die (Revelation 11:13; Revelation 16:18, 20).

God will not forsake Israel; He will do a work among the Jews. In the middle of the Tribulation Period, in the last 3½ years, there will be 144,000 Jews who will proclaim the Gospel––notice they are all virgins:

Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb [Jesus] standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads (Revelation 14:1).

These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb [Jesus] wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb (Revelation 14:4).

The Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that there will be only 144,000 people saved––not so––this is false teaching. During the Tribulation Period, the Gentile nations who come against Israel––Russia and all the other kingdoms of the east––will be conquered. Then the thousand years of Christ’s reign will begin.

The good news is that Israel’s hardening and casting off is only temporary. In dire threat at Armageddon, toward the end of the tribulation period, Israel will finally recognize its Messiah and turn to Him for rescue from the invading forces of the antichrist.
