Obedience Brings Blessings

“ ‘Consider now from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider it: Is the seed still in the barn? As yet the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yielded fruit. But from this day I will bless you.’ ”
Haggai 2:18-19

Underline these verses in your Bible and consider your ways! Remember, God told His people in Haggai 1, that He would take away their money and produce because of their disobedience for not building the Temple:

“You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes” (Haggai 1:6).

“Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands” (Haggai 1:10-11).

After 16 long years of disobedience, finally God’s people repented, and they went back to working on rebuilding the Temple. From that day forward, as they obediently continued the work, only then, could God begin to bless them.

That is always the case in our lives. How many years have you wasted because you have failed to do what God has called you to do? Consider the outcome of your disobedience. Stop playing games with God. It is time to repent of your sin and get right with Him. Are you ready to come back into the house of the Lord? Remember, when you choose to obey, the blessings of God will come.

Obedience to the will of God is the pathway to perpetual honor and everlasting joy.
