Spiritual Darkness and Spiritual Light

And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Acts 13:11-12

The power of God is incredible. The sorcerer, who was trying to keep Sergius Paulus the proconsul, who was fascinated with the Word of God, from knowing the Lord, was struck blind. Paul had rebuked him, and the power of God caused a dark mist over his sight.

This event in Scripture becomes such a warning to those who mock God. Be careful. Those who distort and pervert the truth of God––such as the drag queen nuns, some comedians, worldly musicians, and directors in the movie industry who choose to knowingly mock God––will one day experience the judgment of God, unless they repent.

Sergius was left amazed, but what had astonished him? It was not just seeing the power of God that caused the sorcerer’s blindness; he was astonished at the teaching of God’s Word. His true conversion came about through God’s Word. I love it!

God’s Word brings people out of spiritual darkness and gives them spiritual light. When engaging in spiritual warfare, fervently pray for God to take away the blindness that Satan has placed over people’s eyes, so that they may see Christ revealed in God’s Word:

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).

The sorcerer was not only in physical darkness, but in spiritual darkness, as well. On the other hand, Serguis had been brought out of spiritual darkness and had found the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ. Where do you find yourself today? Are you in spiritual darkness, or have you found spiritual light?

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
~John 8:12~
