A Renewed Mind
But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind...
Ephesians 4:20-23
The Apostle Paul spoke about a renewed mind. In Christ, they have been given a new mind. Therefore, a Christian needed to put off the former conduct and the person they used to be. Roman 12:2 instructs us:
...do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
The more a Christian studies the Bible, the more they will become like Christ. Consider the mind of a person who has rejected the knowledge of God. Paul describes them as having a reprobate and debase mind:
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful... (Romans 1:29).
Those who do not know Christ have a mind that has been blinded:
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe... (2 Corinthians 4:3).
What is the state of your mind?
Whatever a man depends upon, whatever rules his mind, whatever governs his affections, whatever is the chief object of his delight, is his god.
~C.H. Spurgeon~
