Last Day Scoffers
...knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
2 Peter 3:3-4
In the Last Days, as Jesus Christ has not yet returned for His Church, there will be people who will scoff, “Where is the promise of His coming?” To them, life continues onward in the same way it always has since the beginning of creation, but that is not true. Things are rapidly changing and shifting for the worse. What have these scoffers forgotten?
For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men (2 Peter 3:5-7).
Noah and his family prepared for the coming flood. They entered the Ark, but billions of people were unprepared, and they all perished:
So He [God] destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive (Genesis 7:23).
Before God’s fiery judgment comes at the End of the Age, we are still in a time period of God’s grace and mercy. The heart of God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11). He desires that they live. What is needed is repentance:
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
One reason Jesus has not yet returned is to give time for scoffers and the wicked a chance to repent. If that is you, I would not waste another minute. Make a decision for Christ today.
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
~2 Corinthians 6:2~
