Servanthood
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45
Paul spoke about the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry. That is why discipleship is very important. As a believer systematically reads and studies the Bible, spends time with God in prayer, writes notes, and takes the time to meditate on God’s Word, they will progress to maturity. Once they graduate from discipleship, they are ready to be sent out with the message. In times to come, many believers in our fellowship will be called to different countries. God is constantly moving in the body of Christ. He speaks to believers, individually. I love that.
Think about all of the churches all across America and the entire world. Many are dying. Spiritually speaking, these churches are starving to death! They do not have a Wednesday evening service or a Sunday evening service. Many just preach at the people––they are not teaching them. So what often happens is the same people get saved over and over again. People fail to grow in the grace and mercy of God. They do not discover their gifts and talents. A Christian needs to mature in Christ overcome sin, and then God can use their life.
As you attend different Bible studies, learn to obey and submit your life to Jesus Christ by faith. Obedience is needed in the life of the believer. As you allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you––respond. You are not to be idle. God desires to use your life. When believers unite together, can you imagine the massive power they have against Satan and his power of darkness? When God brings together a team, it is a united team where everyone works toward one goal in ministry––saving souls. Ministry is about building God’s Kingdom––it is His ministry.
Christ became a Servant to mankind. He obediently went to the Cross. The Christian must imitate Jesus Christ.
It is not what we do that matters, but what a sovereign God chooses to do through us. God doesn’t want our success, He wants us. He doesn’t demand our achievements; He demands obedience.
