The Word of God

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

Paul explained to the Ephesian believers how to put off the old man and put on the new man. The Word of God was an important factor in renewing their minds. It convicts and instructs. Through prayer, reading the Word, and obeying the Word, their lives would change.

The Word of God is vital to our Christian walk. The psalmist testifies how the Word of God keeps us from sin: Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You (Psalm 119:11). The Word of God is a guide to us: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105).

The Word of God is the source of our joy in life: I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure (Psalm 119:162). A similar thought is given in Psalm 119:47: ...I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love. Do you love the Word of God? We cannot live the Christian life without it!

The Word of God is our standard of conduct; it tells us how to live the Christian life. We can make a big difference in this world by the way we live our lives in front of others. The Word of God is the source of new life. It lives and abides forever (1 Peter 1:22-25). The Word of God is also the source of our spiritual food (Matthew 4:4). Therefore, feed on God’s Word daily to grow and mature.

Have you made reading the Word of God a daily priority in your life?

We must allow the Word of God to correct us the same way we allow it to encourage us.
