Do You Desire a Brand-New Life?
...be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:23-24
Paul the Apostle has taught us what the new man should act like after regeneration. This transformation happens when the Holy Spirit’s power is actively working in a believer’s life. The Holy Spirit begins to do His work as soon as a person asks Christ into their heart. He gives them a brand- new life, and Christ blesses them with spiritual gifts. He begins to mold, shape and build their Christian character. Dr. Billy Graham elaborates:
There is only one way to make humans love instead of hate and that is through the regeneration that comes as the Spirit of God transforms the heart that comes to the Cross asking for forgiveness and cleansing.
The Bible is very clear about our new life in Christ. Something has happened supernaturally. We are a brand-new person with a changed life. Christians enjoy a righteous life. Jesus’ righteousness is working in and through them: If you know that He [Jesus] is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him (1 John 2:29). I like that!
It is because of Christ’s righteousness that we can stand before a holy God: For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). It is because of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross that the weight of our sin and shame is lifted. Guilt is gone, and we gain a peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7).
There are still so many sinners in this corrupt world who have not experienced regeneration. Some willfully suppress the truth of God and are filled with unrighteousness. May we help them to know the truth about God’s amazing mercy, grace and love!
Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion––it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more like Christ.
