Established in God’s Grace
Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.
Hebrews 13:9
Check this verse out! This was an exhortation to the Hebrews to be mindful not to be carried away with different doctrines. That present danger was the influence of ungodly, or even religious people. This may seem ironic, but it was true. Religious people from all over the world held to various and strange doctrines that could be very deceptive.
Today, the ungodly try to get you to compromise. They seek to bring you back into bondage––sin. Religious people, such as the orthodox Jews, want you to live by strict rules and regulations. Then there are strange doctrines taught by Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, those in the Unity Church, or radical Muslims who act on the violent teachings of Islam.
It is important to fellowship with like-minded people who share the same faith and listen to healthy, biblical doctrine. These people know God's Word. They will help to establish you in the grace of God. Remember, we are under the grace of God, not rituals, traditions, or any other religious laws. We enjoy grace upon grace: And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace (John 1:16). As Christians, enjoy living in the grace of God: For it is good that the heart be established by grace....
The Jewish adhered to dietary laws, but what did that profit them? It did not make them any more righteous before God. There was no profit in keeping laws about abstaining from pork or other unclean animals. Seriously, under the New Testament dispensation, an era of grace came where all foods were acceptable: For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; or it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer (1 Timothy 4:4-5).
As a believer, it does not matter if you like to eat meat, or if you are a vegetarian, because we are under the grace of God.
Grace is the good pleasure of God that inclines him to bestow benefits on the undeserving.
