The Great Commission

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.
Matthew 28:19

In Matthew 28:18-20, we find the Great Commission. Jesus desires for each of us to fulfill this call. He gave to us His vision to reach the lost. Jesus compels each of us:

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

The Church equips people for the work of the ministry. Pastors and leaders willingly pour themselves into the lives of others, so that when God opens the doors, they can serve in the ministry or go on the mission field! When I go to other places to preach the Gospel, I gain a renewed vision and passion. I see how God is moving in these faraway places. I see firsthand how God is at work in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and in the utter parts of the world (Acts 1:8). It is so important to catch the vision and purpose of the Church, and to fully engage your time and energy in building God’s kingdom.

I understand not everyone is called to be a missionary in another country, but they can pray and support those who are called to the mission field. If you are attending Bible School, listening to Bible studies Sunday, Wednesday or any other study during the week, God will place a call on your life.

God can call you to be a missionary, a pastor, teacher, leader or an evangelist. The purpose of the Church is to disciple people and train them for Christian service. The mission of the Church is to evangelize the whole world! Ask God what He desires to do with your life.

“Any church not involved in the Great Commission has forfeited its Biblical right to exist.”
