Every Day Evangelism

But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
2 Timothy 4:5

Timothy needed to be watchful in all things––to be calm and collected in spirit. He could not become slothful in the least. There was still so much work to do. Despite any afflictions, he must continue to endure. Timothy was called to action––to continue to do the work of an evangelist and fulfil his ministry.

Billy Graham was an incredibly gifted evangelist. God chose him to evangelize the whole world. He was a powerful preacher who operated under the full power of the Holy Spirit. He visited 185 countries and territories. He spoke with kings and queens. His evangelistic ministry expanded over 55 years. It was extremely fruitful. In person and by satellite, he was able to reach 210 million people throughout his ministry. Now his son, Franklin Graham, has followed in his father’s footsteps, not only as an evangelist, but also as a missionary.

God has called me to be a pastor and teacher, but I am also an evangelist.  For a season, as God provided, we held Somebody Loves You Crusades across America and in many other places around the world. Each week as I teach, the Lord uses my gift of evangelism to reach people with the Gospel.

The Church has become very weak in the area of evangelism. During the Jesus Movement, people shared their faith readily. They engaged people in conversation and handed them Christian tracks. Groups of Christians took to the streets of Downtown Los Angeles to share the Gospel with so many lost people.

What has happened to the important work of evangelism today? We may not have the gift of evangelism to reach the multitudes, but every day there are opportunities to witness to people––try to win them to the Lord.

As you share God’s Word, giving them the Gospel, they have an opportunity to receive Christ.

One of the greatest priorities of the church today is to mobilize the laity to do the work of evangelism.
