Everlasting Life Is Our End
But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:22-23
Christians are set free from sin. They are saved through the grace of God and stand righteous before Him through His Son Jesus Christ. This is such good news! Christians can say no to sin; they can overcome because they are children of God. Remember, greater is He [the Holy Spirit] that is in me than he [the spirit of the Antichrist] that is in the world (John 4:4).
Romans 6:23 is a key verse: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord! “The wages of sin is death” refers to a final spiritual death––the second death––were a person will be cast into hell. Those are terrible wages (Revelation 20:10; 21:8 ).
However, Christians will enjoy the gift of God––eternal life. What is our end? Everlasting life which is the beautiful end for us. Therefore, never continue to be like the sinful person you used to be––as others who do not know Christ. Christians are fully aware of what is right and what is wrong. As Paul has stated, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” God forbid! Never again be found guilty of willful sin. A believer’s position is in Christ, and they must look to Him as the Author and Finisher of their faith.
Thank you, God, for your grace and mercies. As we yield ourselves to you as instruments of righteousness, help us to do what is right, aid us with our daily struggles, and transforms us. Lead and guide us into all truth.
Life is only lived wisely to the extent that it is spent in preparation for the eternity which follows.
