Light and Darkness

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
Ephesians 5:11-13

The reason people choose to walk in darkness is revealed in John 3:19: “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” Here is the key to why men love darkness rather than the light; it is because they love the darkness and their evil deeds.

Think of the multitudes of people in this world who are walking in the darkness. They do not even know they are spiritually blind––lost in the darkness. Some love what they are doing instead of hating what they are doing. However, there are those lost souls in the darkness who are just trying to escape from all their life’s difficulties and the world’s vices.

We, the people of God, should no longer continue in our past lifestyles. Neither should we be hanging around with those in darkness. As children of the light, we should no longer have close fellowship with those in the darkness because they will ultimately cause us to compromise. Consider what we have been instructed in 2 Corinthians 6:14:

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

God has commanded us to separate from those living in darkness!

Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:17-18).

If you are in the darkness, God has made a way for you to be in communion with Him––through Christ. Accept Jesus today!
