Boldness to Speak Truth

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.”
Acts 4:8-10

Peter was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and spoke to the rulers and elders of Israel with boldness. He remained unafraid to speak the truth about Jesus Christ. Peter proclaimed to those interrogating him and John, by what power, authority and name the crippled man was made well. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, he could now walk!

Peter took the opportunity to give the glory and honor for the miraculous healing to Jesus Christ. He did not point to John or himself in any way. Peter let them know with authority that the crippled man was healed by Jesus––the Man the Jewish leaders had condemned and handed over to the Romans to be crucified. In other words, Peter let them know they were all murderers!

Yet their efforts came to nothing! The power of death could not hold Jesus. The Son of Man resurrected. God the Father raised Him from the dead! Peter held nothing back. He spoke the truth, regardless of their threats.

Know this: When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will have boldness to speak the truth without being afraid of any man. What does the government want from us today? They do not want us to preach in the name of Jesus. How can we not preach in His name? He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life (John 14:6). Be unashamed to speak His name.

He that is ashamed to speak the truth has need to be ashamed of himself.
