Esteem Godly Men

Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem; because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.
Philippians 2:29-30

Paul was so generous, so kind, and so loving toward his brother in Christ, Epaphroditus. The Philippian church was to receive Epaphroditus with gladness. Epaphroditus was a faithful servant and was even placed in a certain situation where he almost had to give his life for the Gospel’s sake. It was because of this that Epaphroditus was to be held in such great esteem.

Epaphroditus brought to Paul an offering to supply the needed things he was lacking. In doing so, Paul was able to continue in the work of the Gospel. Paul was so thankful for his ministry. Now, in turn, Paul wanted to make sure that Epaphroditus was also well taken care of.

Dedicated men like Epaphroditus can be used in the ministry because you can fully trust them. In the Church today, we should make it our aim to take care of faithful men like Epaphroditus. It is our responsibility to treat them well because of all the work they have done for Christ. Godly men who have sacrificially spent their entire lives for the Gospel’s sake deserve respect and honor.

Do you hold godly men in high esteem for the faithful work they have accomplished for the Gospel’s sake?

Obedience to the will of God is the pathway to perpetual honor and everlasting joy.
~C.H. Spurgeon~
