Godly Contentment

Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
1Timothy 6:6-8

Do not covet other people’s things––be content. Most young people want to get ahead financially; they desire things instantly, but it takes a long time to get ahead in life as they work hard and save. It is important for the young to learn early to be good stewards of their money; then God will entrust to them more. Learn this biblical principle: He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much (Luke 16:10).

The world tries to keep us discontented through movies, magazines, or car sales; every commercial is aimed at us, saying, “Buy it, you need it, you love it, go get it!” These advertisements deceptively encourage us, “Do not wait two years, go get it now, there will be no interest or payments until years later!” Understand, we will still have to pay for what we have purchased; they are not going to pay the debt off for us! Sales people know of every kind of scheme––it is all lies! People are so gullible––they believe it, go buy it, and get into debt. Why not save for an item instead?

Trust God for His provision and be very wise with your finances. Do not get into bondage to Visa, Master Card, or any other high interest Credit Cards. They will keep you from financial freedom and from giving to God. The interest alone will cause you to become a servant to mammon––money.

When you make a habit of charging things to Credit Cards, bills will stack up. Those who cannot afford the high interest payments will end up filing for bankruptcy. It is not right for a child of God to do that; you need to be wise with your money and everything else God has blessed you with. Have integrity in your life.

A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.
