Rejoice with Me!

Yes, and if I [Paul] am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.
Philippians 2:17-18

Paul spoke about himself; he knew Caesar Nero would eventually kill him, but he also knew his life would be used as a drink offering––a life poured out to God for the benefit of His kingdom. Paul lived by faith, and because of this, he was able to rejoice in every detail of his life.

The Philippians knew of Paul’s selfless service among them and they witnessed his steadfast love. Paul rejoiced knowing his life had been poured out in his sacrificial ministry––in service of your faith––to the believers’ in Philippi. Imagine, Paul was under house arrest and yet he was still rejoicing! He also rejoiced in the fact that he would soon be with the Lord. As a martyr for Jesus Christ, Paul would become an incredible example to the Philippians. Paul had eternal priorities.

Do you have eternal priorities? Can you rejoice knowing that your life is spent in service to the Lord? In America, you may not suffer martyrdom, but are you still rejoicing in your sufferings and trials? Perhaps you are sick and facing death itself and know that soon you will be with the Lord. Are you rejoicing that you will be with Jesus Christ for all eternity?

Remember, no matter what you are facing, God’s presence is still with you. He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Think about the people who are watching your life. Are they seeing your steadfastness and faith? Do they witness your joy and trust in the Lord?

Like Paul, live a life of faith and leave a good legacy behind for others to follow. Learn how to rejoice in Jesus Christ no matter your circumstances. Then your Christian testimony will point others to Christ!

Most joyfully will I confirm with my blood that truth which I have written and preached.
