Jesus, Our Mediator
And for this reason He [Jesus] is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Hebrews 9:15
Jesus is our Mediator––how beautiful is that! Sin had separated us from God, and for that reason, Jesus became the Mediator of a new covenant, by means of His death. He voluntarily died on the Cross and made the payment for our redemption. He bridged the gap and brought us back to God. I love that! Jesus agreed to do the Father’s will and to die for our sins. Our sins are atoned for––completely gone––once and for all.
The Scripture verses in 1 Timothy 2:5-6, are so foundational to our faith: For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all.... Listen, there are no other mediators between God and man––Jesus is it! The Catholic Church has falsely taught that Mary, the mother of Jesus, mediates for us––not so. That is not true. What did the angel of the Lord tell Joseph?
“Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:20-21).
Jesus was sent to save people from their sins. He is the Mediator. You are greatly mistaken if you believe that you can be saved through a religion or another person apart from Jesus Christ. You will remain separated from God––you will be lost. There are no other ways in which to reach God; it is God who has reached out to us through His Son.
Peter and John were imprisoned and questioned because they preached Christ and healed a lame man who had placed his faith in the name of Jesus. In Acts 4:10, 12, is their defense: “... by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.... Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” To be saved, you only need Jesus.
There is no way of salvation except through the cross of Christ.
