The Case for Christ
But when Felix heard these things, having more accurate knowledge of the Way, he adjourned the proceedings and said, “When Lysias the commander comes down, I will make a decision on your case.” So he commanded the centurion to keep Paul and to let him have liberty, and told him not to forbid any of his friends to provide for or visit him.
Acts 24:22-23
After Paul concluded his mounting defense, Felix had a decision to make. He had an opportunity to accept Christ, but he gave a really foolish answer instead. Consider his reaction. Felix remained undecided and wanted to wait to hear from Lysias, the Roman commander who had delivered Paul to him. Meanwhile, Paul was placed under house arrest. Fortunately, he was allowed freedom to receive visits from his friends and provision for his needs.
Listen, Felix was no longer ignorant; he had heard the Gospel from Paul. He also had an accurate knowledge about Christians––those of the Way. He not only put off making a decision on Paul’s case, but he put off making a decision in the case for Christ! Imagine, Felix put off a decision for his salvation. This was the most important decision he would ever make in his life, but he placed it on the back burner.
How many people in this world remain undecided about Christ? Salvation is placed on the back burner; it is not a priority. They think, “Maybe later.” They continue to procrastinate and wait for another day to accept Christ, but they do not know what tomorrow may bring. They might not have the same opportunity. Life is very fragile. They could die in a terrible car accident––it happens all the time.
The Bible brings us to a point of decision. Once you have heard the way of salvation, do not put it off. Make your decision today: Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Will you accept Christ by faith today and receive the free gift of your salvation?
If you don’t make a decision then time will make it for you and time will always side against you!
