Are You Serving the Living God?

...how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrews 9:14

Christ did His part; He died for your sin by shedding His blood on the Cross. He was innocent––sinless––and did not deserve to die. But His plan was for your redemption. This was finalized the moment Jesus took His last breath, “It is finished!” (John 19:30). The writer of the book of Hebrews wanted you to understand that Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice for your sin. That is why we read in the book of John: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). You see, Jesus is the only One who could accomplish your redemption!

The Apostle Paul spoke about the cleansing of your conscience from dead works. There are no good works you can do to secure your salvation. It is foolishness to think so. The Bible tells us: But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags... (Isaiah 64:6). The Bible also tells us: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?  I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, our minds can be renewed and made clean: ...do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2). Jesus is the only one who can purify your conscience to serve the living God. He gives you a clear conscience from sin. He takes away your guilt and condemnation. How beautiful it is to really know the joy of the Lord and to have real peace of heart and mind in your life. You can sleep every night knowing you are forgiven.

Listen, if Christ gave His life to die for you, how much more should you live your life to serve Him?

Give your life to God; he can do more with it than you can!
