The Blood of Christ
Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh....
Hebrews 9:12-13
Christ’s blood was superior to the blood of goats and calves because He was able to enter the heavenly Most Holy Place, once and for all, to secure our salvation––our eternal redemption. Consider these verses about the blood of Jesus Christ to gain a better comprehension of what Jesus did for you personally:
Matthew 26:28: “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
Romans 3:24-25: ...being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed....
Ephesians 1:7: In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace....
1 Peter 1:3 NIV: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead....
1 John 1:7: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
The shadow of the priest’s earthly sacrifice of animals was perfected when Jesus shed His blood. His blood was sufficient to take away our sin, once and for all. The word propitiation points to Jesus’ access to the heavenly Most Holy Place, as He was the perfect sacrifice. Only because of the power of the blood of Jesus, have we become who we are today.
When Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross, it was not the blood of a martyr; or the blood of one man for another; it was the life of God poured out to redeem the world.
