Giving Hearts
Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.
Acts 4:34-35
Again, no one in the early Church lacked anything. Why? Christians had willing, giving hearts.
How we thank God for the people who give willingly to the Lord at Calvary Chapel Golden Springs. We are such a giving church! Giving enables us to give to missions, to help spread the Gospel message, and to build the kingdom of God. Through our church, we are able to help so many people. By the grace of God, we shall be able to continue giving to other ministries, especially those in South America, as the Lord provides.
As we live our lives by the grace of God, it is good to make it a habit, out of love, to give to God. Why? Giving is motivated by the love of God, with the vision to further God’s kingdom. We give because we love Him. We do not give by constraint, but willingly and hilariously––we give out of love: So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). We shall be in one mind and one accord. God will bless you tremendously.
In the church, God’s love is the greatest spiritual gift––His agape, unconditional love: And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13). God’s love motivates us to help others, and His love causes us to want to give financially to further the kingdom of God and to save the lost. This is our Christianity––what is it all about.
Ask God to give you a giving heart.
We want personal consecration. I have heard that word pronounced purse and all consecration, a most excellent pronunciation. He who loves Jesus consecrates to Him all that he has, and feels it a delight that he may lay anything at the feet of Him who laid down his life for us.
