Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.
Hebrew 12:14
Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, an American Federal Holiday marking his birthday. The holiday takes place every third Monday in January, which is near King’s actual birthday on January 15. In American society, racial tension has been spurred on by a divisive government that has pitted white races against black races. Schools and colleges have embraced critical race theories that have infiltrated the hearts and minds of young children––sad.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had a strong message––one of peace and racial justice. He spoke simply, clearly and powerfully so all people could understand the seriousness of the message he proclaimed. There must be no room in the human heart for racism. He likened man’s hateful actions to darkness and his loving actions to light:
“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that...I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. marched in peaceful protests, and is well known for his moving speech, “I Have a Dream.” Tragically, he was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Although his life and legacy continues to inspire others; this world continues on a pathway to war and destruction.
The Nations of the world have embraced evil ideologies––socialism and communism that will only serve to bring all people under greater bondage. Yet it will not be until the return of the King––the Prince of Peace––that the inhabitants of earth will experience peace forever.
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
~John 16:33~
