The Lost Ark of the Covenant
...and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, which had the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold....
Hebrews 9:3
The writer of the book of Hebrews discussed the Old Testament covenant and established regulations for Jewish worship. An earthly sanctuary was instituted by the first covenant. Understand, the actual Old Testament tabernacle and the items in it are pictures of everything that already exists in heaven––amazing!
Have you noticed something that is missing today among the Jews? During the Roman destruction of the Temple in 70 AD, the Ark of the Covenant was never found. It remains lost to this very day! There are many speculations, even in the Hollywood movie Raiders of the Lost Ark, but what is interesting is that the Scripture verses in Jeremiah 3:16-17 NIV, speak of its absence:
“In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the Lord, “people will no longer say, ‘The ark of the covenant of the Lord.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made. At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the Lord, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts.”
And Revelation 11:19 reveals where the copy of it is to be found:
Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.
We are living in the New Testament times, not in the Old Testament. The old covenant was founded upon the Law, and the lost Ark of the Covenant is not necessary. The new covenant is centered upon Jesus Christ and His grace, not Law. Remember that.
This is now a covenant of pure grace; let no man attempt to mix works with it.
