A Murderous Plot Foiled
So when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their ambush, he went and entered the barracks and told Paul. Then Paul called one of the centurions to him and said, “Take this young man to the commander, for he has something to tell him.” So he took him and brought him to the commander and said, “Paul the prisoner called me to him and asked me to bring this young man to you. He has something to say to you.”
Acts 23:16-18
A murderous plot was in motion. The Jews who loathed Paul planned to ambush him on the way down to see the council elders for further questioning. Yet God used a young boy, Paul’s nephew, to be in the right place at the right time to overhear the plot. He was probably just playing in the streets and went into an area where he overheard these men.
Once the boy realized his uncle was in danger, he was so concerned that he immediately rushed off to tell Paul about the secret plan. Let me tell you this: There is a time to pray and a time to act and use your brain! Paul had prayed, so now he acted on the information he was given. He informed one of the centurions to take his nephew to the commander, as the lad had something he needed to hear. The boy would tell the commander exactly what was going on.
Think about it. God even uses children to help bring about His plans. I love that! We have never heard about Paul’s nephew in the Scriptures until now. How was it that Paul’s nephew was in the right place at the exact time to overhear the Jews’ plot? God brought him there! He was at work! Was it a coincidence? No! God had him there right at this particular time.
Are you surrounded by any children? Seek to influence their young lives for Christ. They have many years ahead of them to serve the Lord in different capacities.
If I could relive my life, I would devote my entire ministry to reaching children for God.
