Boldness to Share the Gospel

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13

Some Christians are very passive when it comes to sharing their faith. When people ask them if they are a Christian, they become shy about their faith and not bold. Some Christians are very bold, but others can become too obnoxious about their faith. Believers should never force themselves on people in witnessing to them. When this happens, it will only push people away from Christ, instead of drawing them to Christ.

When the Holy Spirit comes upon a person’s life, it does not mean they suddenly become a microphone for Jesus Christ. I want to clarify that. The Holy Spirit helps Christians to become a mouthpiece by speaking the Gospel when God opens a door of opportunity for them. Wait on the Lord to open that door––do not force it––that is important!

I love it when believers go to Hollywood to witness to the lost; they use their gift of evangelism. But I do not think everyone should go. For some people, they find it hard to witness; evangelism may not be your ministry. If you are not comfortable in engaging people on the street with passing out tracks and witnessing, you do not have to.

Live the Christian life in front of the people you work with. Love them. The best witness is to live a life of integrity. Apply yourself––work hard. Then people will naturally flock to you to ask you about your genuine faith. God will use you mightily, because these co-workers see something different in your life. That is the work of the Holy Spirit in and upon your life.

To be able to share your faith effectively, you have to read your Bible from cover to cover. The only way to tell others about Jesus is to learn the Gospel story from Genesis to Revelation. Know the author of the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit will do the rest.

Our faith becomes stronger as we express it; a growing faith is a sharing faith.
