New Year’s Day
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17
This New Year, make a firm decision to spend more time alone with God. Get to know Him intimately. You need to hear His voice; I have never heard God speak to me in an audible voice. I doubt you have either. How do you hear the voice of God? It is through prayer and reading the Word of God. The Lord will speak to you, and when He does, write it down.
Listen for God’s voice in the sanctuary. What have you retained in your heart after listening to the sermon every Sunday? Again, make it a habit to write down in a notebook how God spoke to you. Otherwise, it is easily forgotten. Why do we need to hear the voice of God? He desires to direct our lives.
I have found that I can safely step out by faith in making decisions after I have spent quality time with God and have heard from Him. He gives me the direction and guidance I need. Find out what God really wants from your life. Then obey what He has told you to do. It is that simple.
I believe with all my heart, if every Christian made it a priority to sit quietly and pray and diligently study God’s Word, God would start a whole new movement––a revival. The Apostle Peter believed it, and he witnessed a new move of God. The Holy Spirit was poured out on all those who gathered in an upper room. They were empowered and began reaching the world for Jesus Christ.
In these Last days, we need the Holy Spirit’s power to be continuously poured out on His people. God can start a renewal in our church and begin to reach the lives of the unsaved.
In the work of real conversion, of bringing the soul to decision and complete obedience to God, the calling voice is often so gentle that it is quite unperceived by others except in its results….
