Hold Fast Your Confession

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works....
Hebrews 10:23-24

Listen to Paul explain our privileges in Jesus Christ; we can draw near to God through the acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice for our sin. Jesus has made a way for us to have an open sanctuary to meet with God. Knowing this, we need to hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering.

In our Christian life, there will always be spiritual battles. The devil is always trying to take us away from biblical truth or tempt us into sin––to enslave us. Yet if we hold fast to our confession in Christ, we have a steadfast hope of eternal life. The moment we die, we shall be with Him.

The Word of God gives us such comfort. We know that our God is faithful; He keeps His promises. What He says, He will do! Faithfulness is the character of God. He cannot lie. Trust that He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

Whom are we to consider? We are to think about each other. For what reason are we to take others into account? We are the body of Christ and should invest in each other’s lives––to stir up each other to use our gifts and talents in the Church for God’s glory. That was exactly what the Apostle Paul said to young Timothy:

Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:6-7).

The word to stir in the Greek language means “to kindle afresh.” Timothy’s spiritual gifts were likened to a fire capable of dying out through neglect.  You and I need to be like Paul and stir up one another to love, and good works. Believers are not to sit on the sidelines, but to be involved in the Church. I find, if people see your love for Christ; and your service toward Him, they will be encouraged to follow your good example.

“Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.”
~Revelation 3:11~
