Our Heavenly Hope

...because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, which has come to you, as it has also in all the world....
Colossians 1:5-6

Paul continued to have such passion when preaching the Word of God. Despite his circumstances as a prisoner, he never became disillusioned. He trusted in the truth of the gospel. Paul had faith, love and hope––a heavenly hope. He reminded the Colossians of their heavenly hope––the hope which is laid up for you in heaven....

What hope do we have? The hope of the coming of Jesus Christ when one day we are finally going to be with Him. That is why we can never lose our hope. Hope does not come from reading reports in the newspapers, what we hear on the television or social media, or even the success or failure of our economy. Our hope is in Jesus Christ––period.

Christians, we have a heavenly hope! Through God’s mercy, we have a living hope explained so well in 1 Peter 1:3-5:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Perhaps you are feeling utterly hopeless in this life. Embrace the hope found in the Word of the truth of the gospel! If you choose to repent of your sin and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, He will lift you from hopelessness into a heavenly hope.

Heaven is a reality, not seen by eyes of flesh, but made known by revelation and received by faith.
