Remission of the First Covenant
Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
Hebrews 10:18
Through Jesus Christ, a new covenant was established. Read each of these Scriptures carefully to understand how the first covenant was made obsolete when the second covenant was established by Christ:
Deuteronomy 4:13: “So He [God] declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments....”
Exodus 24:4-8: ... Moses wrote all the words of the Lord ....Then he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. And Moses took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.” And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.”
Luke 22:20: ...He [Jesus] also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.”
Hebrews 8:7; 13: For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second ... “A new covenant,” He [Jesus] has made the first obsolete....
Hebrews 9:15: And for this reason He [Jesus] is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Because of the new covenant, there is no longer required a continual offering for sin. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our redemption with His very life––with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. Our sinless Savior saved us!
The blood of Jesus saves. There is no other cleansing and there is no need of any other.
