Perfected Forever
And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
Hebrews 10:11-14
What is written in the book of Hebrews reasons that every earthly priest stands to minister daily offerings that have to be repeated. The same sacrifices are repeated day after day and never take away sins. Underline that fact in your Bible, and do not forget it. Again, daily sacrifices performed by priests in the Old Testament can never, ever take sins away––only Jesus Christ can do that.
This is why we have such a hope in Christ, because by this Man [Jesus], after He had offered one sacrifice, did away with our sins forever. The redemption of Mankind was completed. Jesus finished the work the Father gave Him to do. Remember what Jesus said before He died on the Cross and gave up His spirit: “It is finished!” It was a done deal––it was over! His work for our atonement was completed.
Then what did Jesus do? He sat down at the right hand of God.... In the Old Testament, what was an earthly priest not permitted to do? They could not sit down. They had to stand ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices.... But not our High Priest Jesus. Again, it was by one offering that Jesus perfected forever those who are being sanctified. We are now set apart for His glory. How beautiful it is to know God's plan of redemption.
When Jesus submitted Himself to do His Father’s will, to die for the sins of the world, it was a conquering blow to His enemies. His victory on the Cross meant they were utterly defeated––dust! When Jesus comes again, every enemy will be subdued––they will become as His footstool.
In Jesus Christ on the Cross, there is refuge; there is safety; there is shelter; and all the power of sin upon our track cannot reach us when we have taken shelter under the Cross that atones for our sins.
