Is Jesus Lord of Your Life?

“...why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”
Luke 6:46

There are some important things to share with you about the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I have found that some people will come to church and listen to the message, and even respond to the altar call, but only have what is called “a knowledge experience.” They accept the facts that Jesus is Savior, but they have not surrendered their lives to the Lordship of Christ.

Listen, it is necessary to submit your life to Jesus Christ as Lord of your life. Our lives must be fully surrendered to the government of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In other words, He is to rule and reign over our lives.

Sometimes people mistakenly think that Christianity is based upon rules and regulations. It is not. Even though we are called to obey, we do so with the knowledge that God has our best interests at heart. We have a love relationship, not a Law relationship. Knowing how much God loves us personally, we desire to surrender our will and life to Him.

Have you read the warning from our Lord in the Sermon on the Mount to those who say they are followers of Him, when there is no evidence seen in their lives? Anyone can say “Lord.” The point is; He must be Lord:

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ” (Matthew 7:21-23).

This is a very sobering truth. Jesus taught that we cannot live a life of sin and never make Him Lord and expect to go to heaven––it does not work that way. Examine your life in the light of Scripture. Where do you truly stand in your relationship with Jesus as your Lord?

That's what lordship is - Christ reigning as supreme authority over our life. ... Those whom Jesus recognizes as His own are those who do the will of His Father in heaven.
