Christ Is No Ordinary Man

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”
Isaiah 7:14

The Bible is no ordinary book, and Christ is no ordinary Man. The Scriptures in entirety become a reality to those who come to know Christ. Before Jesus was born, He was spoken about by Isaiah the prophet who gave a prophecy of His birth: “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14), which means “God with us.”

Again, Jesus was no ordinary Man. In Jesus’ earthly ministry, He healed a paralytic who was placed before Him by his faithful friends. Jesus not only healed the man physically, but a greater miracle was done spiritually. Jesus forgave the paralytic of his sins:

When Jesus saw their [the men’s] faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (Mark 2:5-7)

The Pharisees, the Jewish religious leaders, were completely stunned because they knew that only God could forgive sins! They grappled with their thoughts, believing that Jesus was a blasphemer. But not so; Jesus wanted all people to know: “...that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” (Mark 2:10).

Christians rejoice in the knowledge that their sins have been forgiven. This is why they celebrate Christmas! Christ came to save us from our sins. Are you a sinner in need of the greater healing of the forgiveness of your sin this Christmas? Then come to Jesus and ask for forgiveness by faith.
