New Year’s Eve

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12-14

This is the final day of 2022, before the world moves forward into 2023. What will this New Year bring? Are you among the many people who are afraid of what might happen in the future? We wonder, Is the world on the brink of a financial collapse? Most economists agree the global financial outlook is grim.

Many countries are either in a recession or are heading into a full-blown recession this winter. In part, this is due to the war caused by Russia invading Ukraine. The world is in disarray. Christians are facing persecution because they refuse to compromise with worldly ideologies. I believe our faith is being tried and tested. No matter what happens, by faith, stand your ground. Do all you can to stand. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:13).

It takes faith to overcome fear. It is important to read and learn the lessons of faith from people who lived in perilous times in the Bible. What did the saints of old do in times of crisis? They faced many difficult trials and tribulations, but they had this one thing in common––their faith in God. They are written examples. Knowing their stories, their lives of faith will help us to grow in our faith.

Think about it. It takes faith to get up every morning and for you to get into your car and go to work or school. After praying about decisions you need to make in life, you have to step out by faith. What are you going to do with your life this New Year? Press ahead by faith.

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.
