A Name Above all Others

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 1:9-11

JESUS is the name above all other names. No other name has been so honored and placed in this high, exalted position––the name which is above every name. There is no other name––not Buddha, Krishna, Muhammad or Joseph Smith. Understand, all those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth––which is hell––will one day bow their knees to Jesus. That covers everybody!

It is important to know that every Christian who has come to know Jesus Christ by faith in their life has already bowed their knee by confessing with their mouth that Jesus is Lord. Jesus Himself said:

“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32-33).

Every unsaved person who has not accepted Jesus Christ before they take their last breath and physically die will one day be forced to bow their knee to Jesus. Today, at this very moment, every person has the choice to bow their knee. It would be wise to choose to humble yourself before Jesus Christ today. He is the only way, truth and life (John 14:6).

As you contemplate the Christmas story anew this year, consider the different names of Jesus. If you do not know Jesus as your Savior, why not bend your knee in prayer and express your need for salvation. Repent of your sins and allow Him to minister to your heart.

Great names come and go, but the name of Jesus remains. The devil still hates it, the world still opposes it, but God still blesses it and we can still claim it! “In the name of Jesus” is the key that unlocks the door of prayer and the treasury of God’s grace.
