Seeking a Savior

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.
Luke 2:15-16

When the angels had left to go into heaven, all together the shepherds agreed to leave their flocks and go into the crowded city to see the Babe, a Savior, named Christ the Lord. Without another moment to lose, they came to the place where the angel said they would find Him.

The shepherds saw Mary, Joseph and the Babe lying in the manger, just as the angel had said. Although the shepherds returned to their flocks in the fields, they widely made known what was told them regarding this Child. They broadcast what they had seen and heard publicly. They spread glad tidings! The Savior, Christ the Lord, was born! Those who heard them marveled (Luke 2:17-18). However, Mary pondered all these sayings in her heart (Luke 2:19).

These shepherds knew they had been a part of something special––miraculous. They gave all the glory and praise to God (Luke 2:20). They went seeking the Savior and found Christ the Lord. What a privilege it was to see Him with their very own eyes.

Like the shepherds, seek the Savior. Trace His steps in the Scriptures and listen to His Words. In doing so, you will find Him, and He will tell you how you can be born again––saved. Like Mary, take time to ponder what has been said about Christ’s birth. It was a message proclaimed by shepherds and angels. You can be a part of the miracle of Christmas when you give your life to Jesus.

My looking to Jesus brings me joy and peace, but it is God’s looking to Jesus which secures my salvation.
