Finding Christ in Christmas
So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.
Luke 2:15-16
The shepherds believed the angel’s words. In unison, they agreed to leave their fields and flocks and to go into the crowded city in search of the Child––Christ the Lord was born! They found Mary the mother of Jesus, Joseph, and the Babe lying in the manger, just as the angel had told them.
After they had seen Jesus, they made known publicly the miraculous message that was told them by the angels concerning this Child. Those who heard them marveled. However, Mary pondered all these sayings in her heart. As the shepherds returned to their flocks of sheep in the fields, they glorified and praised God, not only for what they were privileged to hear, but for the Babe––the Savior––Christ the Lord who they had found. They had seen Him with their very own eyes (Luke 2:17-20).
The plan of God’s salvation for mankind is not a hidden revelation. God has declared the message to man through His Word, prophets and even angels. Perhaps, this Christmas season, you feel empty, alone and unfulfilled. This question often comes to people’s minds when they feel these things, “Is this all there is to life?” Have you yet to discover the glad tidings of the Babe, wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in the manger?
Have you found Christ? When you do, you will be filled with His presence, peace, joy and hope. Your sins will be forgiven, your life will be transformed, and you can embrace the plan God has for your life. The gift of eternal life is freely yours! Glorify God this Christmas for the birth of His Son Jesus––the One who has given His life for you.
You can never truly enjoy Christmas until you can look up into the Father’s face and tell him you have received his Christmas gift.
