Christmas Day

And she [Mary] brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger….
Luke 2:7

This is the day that Christians from all around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus! Our Savior! This year, Christmas Day has fallen on a Sunday, and churches around the world have the wonderful opportunity to preach the message of Jesus’ birth to all those who desperately need Him!

Listen once again to the beautiful story of Christmas: This was no ordinary day. After finding a safe and warm place to stay, Mary went into labor. She gave birth to a healthy Baby Boy––her firstborn Son. The virgin birth of Christ was such an amazing miracle.

Think about it: Jesus did not begin His human life with comforts of a crib and cozy blankets. His mother tenderly wrapped Him snuggly in swaddling cloths to keep Him warm and secure. Imagine Joseph and Mary gathering hay and placing it in the manger––a trough used to feed animals. Mary gently laid her Son––her Savior––Jesus there.

The King of kings was born. Again, Jesus was not born in a palace––in a royal court––but a simple stable, or a shepherd’s cave. In that place of seclusion, away from all others, Mary and Joseph must have lovingly looked down at Jesus. I am sure they reflected on the angel’s words to them: “…therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God (Luke1:35). “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). They knew God had sent His Son into the world.

On this Christmas Day, read the Bible and contemplate for yourself the birth of Jesus Christ. Rejoice in His salvation!

He who was born at Bethlehem is God, and “God with us.” God––there lies majesty; “God with us,” there lies mercy. God––therein is glory; “God with us,” therein is grace. God alone might well strike us with terror; but “God with us,” inspires us with hope and confidence.
