God’s Plans
“Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”
Luke 1:36-38
The angelic messenger revealed something that would greatly encourage Mary. Elizabeth, her relative who been barren, through the power of God, experienced the impossible. Although elderly, she would have a child. God had done the impossible in Elizabeth’s life––for with God nothing will be impossible. God would do a greater miracle in Mary’s life.
Mary, moved by faith, willingly agreed to be used by the Lord to be the mother of Jesus. She fully submitted to God’s plan. Her reaction to the angel’s message revealed her heart of faith. Mary was delighted to do the will of God. As a virgin, she was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and conceived the Son of God in her womb.
God has a plan and purpose for each of our lives. The Bible tells us: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV). Sadly, if you do not know Christ, then you will remain unaware of His plans for your life. Are you not curious what those plans might be?
Give up your old life of sin and take hold of the new life God has planned for you since before the beginning of time. Find joy and delight in doing God’s will. Present yourself before the Lord and make yourself available. Submit to whatever God’s plan is for your life, saying like Mary, “Let it be to me according to your word.” Understand that whatever God has planned for your life is far greater than you could have ever imagined.
“Indeed, my plans are not like your plans, and my deeds are not like your deeds, for just as the sky is higher than the earth, so my deeds are superior to your deeds and my plans superior to your plans.”
