Worship Christ Our King!

“He [God] has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy, as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever.”
Luke 1:52-55

Mary praised God. She knew she had been chosen to carry the Messiah in her womb. She continued to magnify the Lord for His mercy to Israel. Mary knew the Messiah was coming, just as He had promised to their forefathers––to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3.

Understand, God is the One who puts a person down and exalts another (Psalm 75:7). He can take down the mighty from their thrones to replace them with the lowly––fully and completely. Consider Christ’s humility as He came to earth. The Creator became a Man:

…Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men (Philippians 2:5-7).

In His earthly ministry, in humility, Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem (Luke 19:28-40), and fulfilled the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9:

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Christ is now exalted. He is King of kings!

…God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth… (Philippians 2:9-10).

Why not accept Christ as your King this Christmas?

O Worship the King, all glorious above, and gratefully sing His power and His love; our shield and defender, the ancient of days, pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.
