Preparing for Jesus’ Coming
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every one according to his work.”
Revelation 22:12
When a Christian is saved, they may say to themselves, “Now what?” Getting saved is just the beginning of your walk with Christ. Ask the Lord, “What do you want me to do?” He has a plan for you to complete. As you pray, read the Word, and seek the Lord, you will be guided to where He desires to use your life in the body of Christ––the Church.
God may direct you to be involved in a prayer meeting, street witnessing, or serving in the Nursery or Sunday school. When God begins to use your life, it is exciting. Think about it. When you are actively involved, you are investing your time in the Kingdom of God.
When some people are saved, they do not go any further in their relationship with Jesus Christ. They fail to grow spiritually. When Jesus returns, what works will they be able to show Him? They did absolutely nothing to serve Him in this life. The Apostle Paul gave this exhortation:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2).
We are not saved by our works, but a true conversion to Christ brings about true works for the Kingdom of God (James 2:18). What is holding you back from becoming actively involved in the body of Christ? He does not want you to just sit idle in the pew. Live your life each day in anticipation of Jesus’ return. That will help you be prepared for His Second Coming. In serving the Lord, keep in mind you have to have a clean heart, hands and soul (Psalm 51:1-2, 10; Psalm 24:4-6).
In your daily walk with Christ, in what ways are you preparing for His return?
When He returns is not as important as the fact that we are ready for Him when He does return.
