A Good Company of Believers
When Boaz left Bethlehem and went out to his field, he said to the harvest workers, “The LORD bless you!” They replied, “And may the LORD bless you!”
Ruth 2:4
In Bethlehem, Boaz was a man of great wealth. He had many servants gleaning in the fields. As a godly employer, he treated his servants well. He blessed his servants saying: “The LORD bless you!” In return they joyfully blessed Boaz: “And may the LORD bless you!”
It is important for an employer to be careful in how they treat their employees. A godly employer understands that employee’s are God’s children. God has given employees to an employer to manage. They are to train them and provide for their needs. What an opportunity to have a beautiful company of believers who place their trust and faith in Jesus Christ. Maybe before work, they wait on God in a time of prayer, and thanking Him for what He is doing in the company. In unison, they can give God the glory and honor for the success of the business.
An employer will look at a job well done and they can tell an employee has put in a lot of heart and effort into their work. They know this employee has gone the extra mile. They came in early and they stayed late to accomplish the task, doing it all for the Lord. They give God the glory realizing He is the One who gives them a pay check and supplies all their needs.
Yet there are other employees who seemingly can never be found. They are lazy and slothful. Employers find them on their phones, taking unscheduled breaks, enjoying extended lunch times or they have punched out early. Workers like these take advantage of the company. They are lying, cheating and robbing time from their employer.
Honestly look at your life as an employer. How are you managing those people who are working for you? Do you bless them like Boaz or do you treat them unfairly? As an employee are you working your best for the company or are you taking advantage? Do you fulfill all your daily tasks?
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
