The Salvation of Your Souls
...whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:8-9
Even though we may not have seen Jesus, we have come to a place of deep love for Him. When was the last time you met someone who would die for you––give their life for yours? Most of us would make that ultimate sacrifice for someone we love, but not for our enemies. Did you know that Jesus Christ died for us when we were sinners and called His enemies?
Romans 5:7-8: For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:10: For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
This is why we rejoice with an inexpressible joy that most people do not understand. Jesus spoke of joy. As we abide in His love, His joy remains with us: “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11). Jesus’ joy overflows in our lives. The word joy means that we literally “jump up and spin around” because we are so joyful knowing that one day we shall see Him and spend all eternity with Him.
Christians rejoice, knowing the end from the beginning of our faith––the salvation of our souls. Do you know your life’s end? If you are in Christ, your end will be glorious!
No matter how foreboding the future, the Christian knows the end of the story––and it is glorious! Don’t lose heart. The best is yet to be!
