Praise God
Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Psalm 150:1-2
How often do we stop what we are doing just to praise the Lord? It is important to reflect on all He has given us: our salvation, His provisions, and His blessings.
Look around you. Praise God for your spouse, your children, your grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Praise Him for all His miraculous mighty acts that He has performed in your life. Think back on how God has delivered you from your sin, or how He has intervened to save your life from a bad accident or tragedy.
How do we, as Christians, praise the Lord? Personal praise comes from grateful hearts. Our lips praise Him whenever we consider all He has done for us. When we go to church services, we can praise the Lord with other Christians in the sanctuary. Have you ever praised God our Creator when you were outside surrounded by His creation––the majestic mountains, the expanse of the skies, and the stars, moon and sun in space?
An old, short hymn written in 1674 by Thomas Ken expresses the perfect way to praise the Lord in song:
Praise God, from whom all blessing flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, Ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Amen.
Why not spend some time alone with God in heartfelt praise today?
Praise God with the heart He has changed, the lips He has loosed, and the life He has spared.
~C.H. Spurgeon~
