God Is for Us
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
Romans 8:31-33
Paul, having gone through many sufferings, sicknesses and persecutions, sought to encourage believers in his masterful conclusion of Romans 8. After believers considered how they were called of God, justified by God, and ultimately will be glorified by God, Paul gave them this strong consolation, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Memorize this question because it gives to us an answer. No one! No one can come against us! If God is for us, then that is all we need to care about!
This is so incredible. If a Christian is aligned with God’s purposes and living a life completely trusting in Him, then they can have no reason to worry about anything. They have the peace of God in any given situation, because they have a freedom from fear. Even the devil cannot condemn them. He is a defeated foe! A Christian can place their full trust in Jesus as Savior. He is the Lord of lord’s who is ready to help and defend them.
Knowing this, Christians also have freedom from discouragement and all the frustrations they go through in their lives. Instead of complaining, “Why me?” they can rest in the fact that God is in charge of their lives. They know God understands what He is doing. He will give them His peace that is beyond their understanding.
If God sent Jesus to die on the Cross for our sins, then consider how much He really cares for each one of us! I believe it is so easy for people to come to know Christ, experience deliverance, and receive the peace of God in their hearts. When you do come to Christ by faith, you can have peace by knowing if you die today, you will go to heaven. That is what the Bible teaches.
The Gospel is open to all; the most respectable sinner has no more claim on it than the worst.
