A Timely Deliverance

But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.
Acts 16:18-19

Paul was greatly irritated, turned to the girl, and commanded in the name of Jesus, that the spirit come out of her. He did not have to shout––demons are not deaf. Paul was in complete control. God gave him authority over the demon as he used the name of Jesus! Within the hour, the demon was gone. What a timely deliverance and an end to the demonic annoyance.

Anytime a Christian is confronted with a demon, know this: demons will flee at the name of Christ! On one occasion, Jesus told His disciples that sometimes they needed to fast and pray before a demon would be cast out. There are different ranks of demons (Matthew 17:14-21).

Over the years, I have seen people who were demon possessed. After a missionary trip to South America, a group of us were boarding a plane to go back home. On the plane was a beautiful, young woman who professed to be a witch. She was American, but had been kicked out of Guatemala and was coming back to her home in Los Angeles.

All of a sudden, she began groaning and speaking obscenities. She became very violent. We were asked to help. We had her pinned down while the plane made an emergency landing. She recognized that we were servants of God. Once we landed, the FBI carried her out of the plane. I have experienced these things––especially in other countries.

Understand, when you are serving God on the mission field, you may encounter demons. Just use the name of Jesus, and by His blood, command them to leave––they will flee.

Let us look upon a crucified Christ, the remedy of all our miseries. His cross hath procured a crown, his passion hath expiated our transgression. His death hath disarmed the law, his blood hath washed a believer's soul. This death is the destruction of our enemies, the spring of our happiness, and the eternal testimony of divine love.
