Fellow Workers for God’s Kingdom

Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, with Mark the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions: if he comes to you, welcome him), and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me.
Colossians 4:10-11

Paul had Christ as number one in his life, and so did his fellow servants–– all of his friends. They were a great comfort to Paul while he was in prison. Their focus was Christ, and they lived a full life serving Him.

I love Paul’s words because they speak to my heart. He was always looking for an opportunity to speak about Jesus. This is one of the things I miss the most about the Jesus People Movement; Christians shared their faith boldly. They freely gave the love of Jesus to everyone they met.

The Jesus People had a contagious love. They shared the love of Christ, and it became obvious to people that they were Christians by their love. Jesus said: “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Jesus is love. It is important to love Christ and love people.

Over a period of time, people have lost their passion for God. Men and women have changed their priorities. They become comfortable, and other things take the place of Christ, and He becomes buried on the bottom of everything we do, when He should be on top!

We only have one life to live for Christ. Look at your life and all that you have accomplished. If God is not number one in your life, then your accomplishments mean nothing. It does not matter if you have attained great amounts of money and security; it is all in vain.

Do not have any regrets when you come to the time of your death. You want to be able to sit and reminisce about how God has used you, and what He has done in your life. You want to finish well as you enter the kingdom of God.

The kingdom of God does not exist because of your effort or mine. It exists because God reigns. Our part is to enter this kingdom and bring our life under his sovereign will.
