The Treasures of Christ
...esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
Hebrews 11:26
Moses forsook Egypt and its pleasures. He was looking forward to something else. Moses looked with eyes of faith to greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. He looked to the reward! What was the reward? Even though he was reproached for the sake of Christ, it awarded far greater riches and the reward of eternal life.
The Apostle Paul explains the riches of Christ in a way that is understandable for us to comprehend:
2 Corinthians 8:9: For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
Ephesians 1:7: In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace....
Ephesians 3:8: To me [Paul], who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ....
Colossians 1:27: To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
My heart goes out to all the people who do not understand that holding on to this world and all it has to offer is fleeting. Like Paul, I have been called to preach the Gospel message. I want people to know the riches of Christ and the hope of glory––heaven.
Like Moses, have you chosen to look for the reward? Who is your reward? Jesus Christ! And what is the reward He gives to you? Eternal life!
You must keep all earthy treasures out of your heart, and let Christ be your treasure, and let Him have your heart.
