Get Back On Track

Thus I cleansed them of everything pagan. I also assigned duties to the priests and the Levites, each to his service, and to bringing the wood offering and the firstfruits at appointed times. Remember me, O my God, for good! - Nehemiah 13:30-31

Nehemiah was able to get God’s people back on track. What a leader! Can you imagine? He got rid of all theleaven––a type of sin. Nehemiah was a good organizer and administrator. Nehemiah made sure everything ran smoothly. Nehemiah finished the book of Nehemiah by writing: Remember me, O my God, for good! He was a man of God whose heart was so big for God.

King David’s life got off track when he committed adultery with Bathsheba and killed her husband by placing him in the heat of the battle (2 Samuel 11). God used the prophet Nathan to help David get his life back on track. After telling him a parable about a rich man who took a poor man’s only ewe lamb for a feast (2 Samuel 12:1-4), David made a judgment and said: “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this shall surely die! Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!” (2 Samuel 12:5-7).

Convicted by his sin, David sincerely repented and prayed to the Lord:

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin(Psalm 51:1-2).

Does your spiritual life need to get back on track? Take an examination of your life before the Lord and see if you have allowed sin to creep back into your life. How far has that sin taken you away from the Lord? If you are backslidden, like King David, ask the Lord to cleanse you from your sin. God will have mercy on you.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by
Your generous Spirit.
~ Psalm 51:12~
