Hidden Wisdom

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. - 1 Corinthians 2:7-8

The Jews believe that Isaiah 53, in the Old Testament, refers to the nation of Israel, when in reality it is speaking about the Messiah–– the Anointed One of God––Jesus Christ. In the past, and even to the present day, Israel has not understood the cross. But it has now been revealed to us as believers; we understand what the cross means.

God’s Word is like a hidden treasure. There is so much to discover in the Bible. The message of the cross, Jesus Christ crucified, was always there in the prophetical books of the Old Testament. As you study prophecy, you will find many Scriptures about Christ and His death on the cross. Psalm 22:14-15 describes for us His suffering:

I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it has melted within Me.  My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death.

As a brand new Christian, I can remember I had a strong desire to get a Bible. “Who placed that desire in my heart?” The Spirit of God placed a hunger and thirst for the Word of God. When I went to Calvary Chapel, I went there for the teaching of God’s Word.

I notice people reading all kind of novels, but those books are not going to help them spiritually. Read the Bible and buy books by authors who have spent time with God. These writers are the ones who will really challenge you to go deeper with the Lord.

I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord, who call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel.
~Isaiah 45:3~
